The terms and conditions outlined here apply to the use of chat and text service and any other helpline-related services. Please read carefully.
If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately.
Our Terms of Service may change. Any changes will become effective immediately. Each time you contact the Louisiana Association on Compulsive Gambling (LACG) via text or chat, you will be presented with the current Terms of Service for acceptance. You are required to accept the Terms of Service to use these services.
LACG operates the Louisiana Problem Gamblers Helpline 1-877-770-7867. LACG is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people through treatment and providing helpline services to individuals and families who may be affected by problem gambling, substance use or suicide. The primary function of this service is to provide help with problem gambling, treatment for problem gambling and information and referral services.
You do not have to accept any referrals, future follow-up or resources offered.
LACG’s Helpline services are not mental healthcare treatment or provider. Your use of this service does not create a legal confidential relationship. Examples of a legal confidential relationship include, but are not limited to, licensed doctor-patient or licensed therapist-patient. The Louisiana Problem Gamblers Helpline 1-877-770-7867 is not a substitute for professional health care.
The 988 Lifeline provides support on an “as is” and “as available” basis. LACG expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This means we do not make any promises or guarantees about providing services. For example, we do not guarantee that we will:
• Meet your requirements.
• Be timely, uninterrupted, or error-free; or
• Meet your expectations.
LAW ENFORCEMENT AND 911
We reserve the right to disclose personally identifiable information (PII) to authorities (such as 911) at our sole discretion and as required by law. Some examples of when we would disclose PII include, but are not limited to:
• A person’s life is at imminent risk of death or serious injury.
• A minor or elder is being abused (according to their state’s laws); or
• A threat is made to the LACG contact center; office; or affiliated individual that we believe needs to be investigated.
The information you voluntarily submit will be used for purposes such as answering your questions; responding to any requests for assistance; generating summary statistics about usage and fulfilling any legal obligations.
Use of this service is voluntary. LACG will not sell, lease, or distribute any information to any third party unless required by state or federal law.
BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU AGREE:
LACG reserves the right to deny users access to this service for any misconduct performed through use, whenever users engage or are suspected of engaging in any of the following activities:
• Impersonating others or providing inaccurate information.
• Doing anything unlawful, misleading, or fraudulent or for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
• Doing anything to impair or interfere with the intended operation of our services.
The use of this service confirms:
• You are 18 years old or older.
• You are not prohibited from receiving our services.
