Thank you for visiting the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) website. The following is a description of how NRS collects, stores, and uses the personal information you provide through any of the websites operated by NRS, including the one you are currently visiting. NRS has also voluntarily undertaken privacy certification with TRUSTe, which requires that we meet established online information collection and use practices.

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information such as a credit card number on our registration or order forms, NRS does not retain your credit card information in our system.
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Sharing of Information
For general site visitors, we do not sell, lease, or reveal your personal information, except in anonymous form or when required by law. All identifiers are stripped out first, so no information about you ever leaves our premises. NRS may use excerpts anonymously from bulletin board postings to connect individuals with the plight of runaways. The intent is to build visibility and generate support of the mission. Specifically, these excerpts may appear in publications or letters to illustrate youth being helped by NRS services.
Use of Google Analytics
Personal information is information that personally identifies you, such as your name, email address or billing information, or other data which can be reasonably linked to such information. The Google Analytics Terms of Service, which all Analytics customers must adhere to, prohibits the tracking or collection of this information using Google Analytics or associating personal information with web analytics information.
Like many services, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track visitor interactions. These cookies are used to store information, such as what time the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before, and what site referred the visitor to the web page. Browsers do not share first-party cookies across domains. Every computer and device connected to the Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet protocol (IP) address. Since these numbers are usually assigned in country-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the country, state, and city from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. Google Analytics collects the IP address of website visitors in order to provide website owners a sense of where in the world their visitors come from. This method is known as IP geolocation. Google Analytics does not report the actual IP address information to Google Analytics customers. Additionally, using a method known as IP masking, website owners that use Google Analytics have the option to tell Google Analytics to only use a portion of the IP address, rather than the entire IP address, for geolocation. Whether or not website owners use Google Analytics, they have access to IP addresses for visitors to their sites.
We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our website.
Payment information is collected only to process a transaction. While being used to process the transaction, your payment information is stored in an encrypted format and reasonable measures are taken to ensure your payment information is not vulnerable to theft or interception. We will not store your payment information in a manner that is not necessary for processing a transaction.

We have taken and will continue to take reasonable steps to ensure the secure and safe transmission of this kind of information.
If a users personally identifiable information changes such as zip code, telephone, e-mail or postal address, or if a user no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate users personally identifiable information. Our site contains links to other web sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another website for which NRS has no responsibility. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on all such sites as their policies may be different than ours.
When you make a donation on the NRS website by clicking the Donate to NRS link on our homepage we must share some of your personally identifiable information with third parties in order to process the transaction. For example, we must share your credit card number with our credit card processor BBMS (Blackbaud Merchant Services) who utilize the Raisers Edge software in order to process your payment. These third parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services. We do not share any of your personally identifiable information with unrelated third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.
Participation In Our Online Auction
We always use industry standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving consumer data exchanged with our site. When you choose to input sensitive data such as financial information in order to participate in our online auction, we redirect visitors to a third party secure server which will process transactions in a way that personal information is protected.
The process of rerouting users to another website even though it feels like a user is still on the NRS website is called a masking technique. Users that want to be aware of when the masking technique is happening on the NRS website can look in the upper left hand corner of the screen and see a powered by cmarket logo. We have appropriate security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or altercation of information that we have collected from you when using our site. Information collected on the cmarket website will be disclosed to NRS in order to maintain accurate financial records on a need to know basis.
If a user chooses to not disclose personal information while on a cmarket powered site they may choose to stop the transaction process, click the more information button, or utilize a nickname and password to further protect their personal information.
Users may have the option of making an online purchase at a third party website with a portion of the sales going to NRS at www.1800runaway.org/shopping.html. When applicable, a purchase a user can click the Shopping icon on the NRS homepage and be connected to participating businesses logos that we have an agreement with. When a user clicks on one of the business logos they will be redirected to that organizations secure webpage and proceed with their purchase. A pop up screen will appear before any sensitive information such as personal details or financial information is entered.
Third Party Tracking Technology
Third party businesses use a variety of tools on their websites to keep track of business that is being done on their website as well as enhance customer experience. For example when a user follows a link on our website to a third party website they might encounter cookies that keep track of an order, passwords, past purchases, preferences and items a user might want to come back at a later date to purchase. Users have the option of not accepting a third parties cookies, setting their web browser to block them or be alerted when a cookie is present. Any of these actions present the risk of not being able to access special features, complete a transaction or view the website. Cookies on third party websites will not harm a users computer and do not contain any private information but they will recognize when a specific computer visits a website.
Communications from NRS
When you order materials or make a donation on the NRS site you will receive an email thanking you for your involvement and confirming that your information has been received. All other email communications, such as newsletters or pledge-reminders, are sent only to those who have opted-in to receive them.
Choice / Opt-out
NRS provides users the opportunity to opt-out of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes, when we ask for this information. For example, if you purchase a product or service but do not wish to receive any additional marketing material from us, you can indicate your preference on our order form.
