By using IowaCrisisChat.org, which is operated by The Crisis Center of Johnson County (“The Crisis Center”), you agree to the terms described below. If you dont agree to the terms, you may not use this service.

Modification of the Terms, Conditions and Privacy Statement
This statement may be modified from time to time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Each time you access this service you will be presented with the current terms, conditions and privacy statement for acceptance. You must agree to the modified terms to use this service.

Nature and Use of Information Provided through This Service
The Chat Specialists at IowaCrisisChat.org are NOT mental health care professionals and the crisis counseling they provide does NOT constitute mental health care or treatment. Chat Specialists are volunteers trained in crisis counseling and suicide prevention/intervention. IowaCrisisChat.org’s services include emotional support, collaborative action planning, and/or referrals to other relevant services. Our services do NOT include giving advice of any kind or making diagnoses.

If you are in suicidal crisis or emotional distress and the IowaCrisisChat.org chat service is not available, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK(8255).

If you or someone you know is currently in the act of harming him/herself or someone else, or if they need immediate medical attention, please call 9-1-1.

The Crisis Center of Johnson County and any of their employees, volunteers or agents are not responsible for any decisions or results of the decisions that you make. You assume all risk for use of this service. By using this service you agree to indemnify The Crisis Center and hold us harmless for damages arising out of information provided through this service. Without limiting the foregoing, in no event shall The Crisis Center of Johnson County be liable for any special, incidental, consequential, or indirect damages. This service is provided on an “as is” basis and “as available” basis.

Privacy
The IowaCrisisChat.org Privacy Policy is also available on the IowaCrisisChat.org website and is a part of these Terms and Conditions and is hereby incorporated into this document by reference.

IowaCrisisChat.org provides links to third party websites whose content is related to common issues brought up in chats. The links are provided with the goal of helping visitors find the resources they need to get help with whatever issue they are facing. The provision of links on the website does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation of the information or services found on any of these third party websites. IowaCrisisChat.org makes no guarantees as to the accuracy or quality of the information found on third party websites. Should you choose to rely on any information located on these third party websites, you do so at your own risk.

Liability of Crisis Chat
IOWACRISISCHAT.ORG DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES EXPRESSED, IMPLIED, OR OTHERWISE. YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. IN NO EVENT SHALL IOWACRISISCHAT.ORG OR ANY OF ITS CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, OR REPRESENTATIVES BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, PERSONAL INJURY/WRONGFUL DEATH, LOST PROFITS, OR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM LOST DATA OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) RESULTING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE WEBSITE OR THE CONTENTS, INFORMATION OR SERVICES AVAILABLE ON OR THROUGH THE WEBSITE.

General
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the United States of America. Any action arising from the use of the website shall be brought in the jurisdiction of the USA.
