Introduction
Thank you for visiting IMAlive! By using the IMAlive website (the “website”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the additional policies which are displayed here.

About IMAlive
IMAlive is the world’s first Virtual Crisis Center which offers emotional support and crisis intervention to people in emotional distress. IMAlive is available during hours that vary according to the online suicide intervention specialists and their support teams’ availability.


If you are in suicidal crisis or emotional distress and IMAlive ’s chat service is not available or is “offline,” please call the National Hopeline Network 1-800-442-HOPE(4673).

If you or someone you know is currently in the act of harming him/herself or someone else, or if they need immediate medical attention, please dial 9-1-1.

Automatically Collected and Stored Information
If you do nothing during your visit but log onto the website, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store information, similar to the following, concerning your visit
* The Internet provider;
* The type of browser and operating system used to access the site;
* The date and time you accessed the site; and
* If you linked to the website from another website, the address of that website.
This information is used to help make the site more useful to visitors, to learn about the number of visitors to the site, and the types of technology visitors use. We do not automatically track or record personally-identifiable information about website visitors.

Voluntarily Provided Information by the Visitor
We do not collect personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it to us when you sign-in to IMAlive. If you provide your telephone number for contact or other use by the IMAlive Specialist, this information will be stored in your record by the crisis center.

Privacy and Security
We take your privacy and security very seriously. Security controls, including encryption and authentication, are in place to ensure the protection of your information. Any information provided by you or collected on you will only be shared or disclosed in accordance with applicable Federal laws and/or state laws and regulations. Content of each chat may be used for training purposes after all identifiable data that could link the chat visitor to a real or actual person has been stripped out/deleted. Contractors may act on behalf of IMAlive in administering support to people in the IMAlive chat area. Any contractor used will be subject to the same legal requirements and responsibilities for protecting the privacy and security of your information as IMALIVE and THE KRISTIN BROOKS HOPE CENTER.

Interactions with visitors under 18
No personally identifiable information is collected from underage visitors unless voluntarily submitted as a request for information or services. The information supplied is used to respond to the visitor’s inquiries or to provide services requested by the visitor.

AGREEMENT:
By entering this site, you expressly acknowledge and agree that neither IMAlive nor any of its contractors, agents, or representatives is responsible for any personal information which you may enter over the Internet during transmission. Despite our efforts to protect your information some level of risk when communicating over the Internet is always present.
Because your participation in IMAlive is not medical care or treatment, neither IMAlive nor any of its contractors, agents, or representatives are responsible for any decisions or results of the decisions that you make while, as a result of, or after participating in IMAlive. This includes whether you choose to seek or not seek professional medical or psychiatric care, or to modify or terminate specific treatment that you currently are receiving based on the information provided by this service. If the Chat Specialist concludes that you are at imminent danger to yourself or others, the Chat Specialist will request your telephone number and current location so they can attempt to provide you with additional assistance, including sending local emergency services to you. As a visitor, you may refuse to provide your telephone number/location and neither IMAlive nor any of its contractors, agents, or representatives will be able to attempt to contact you to offer you additional support or assistance.

Access
Access to IMAlive and its resources is free to anyone anywhere in the world.

Privacy
The IMAlive Privacy Policy is also available on the IMAlive website and is a part of these Terms and Conditions and is hereby incorporated into this document by reference.

Third Party Websites and Links
IMAlive provides links to mental health services located in various communities with the goal of helping families find the resources they need to resolve mental health issues. Our provision of links on the website does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation of the information or services found on any of these third party websites. IMAlive makes no guarantees as to the accuracy or quality of the information found on third party websites. Should you choose to rely on any information located on these third party websites, you do so at your own risk.

Changes to Terms and Conditions
IMAlive may from time to time make additions or alterations to these Terms and Conditions. These changes will be displayed here, and will be effective once posted. We ask that you check these Terms and Conditions regularly.

We are pleased to abide by the HON (Health On the Net Foundation) Code of Conduct, whose principles are summarized here:
1. Authoritative: The authors of this site are affiliated with IMALIVE AND THE KRISTIN BROOKS HOPE CENTER, a national organization that accredits and support crisis centers across the USA.
