Terms and Conditions

General - The MFRNSS ‘Crisis Chat’ offers emotional support and crisis intervention to people in emotional distress, as well as friends/family members who are concerned about a loved one. Crisis Chat is available during our hours of operation (Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 9 PM), as resources allow. Our services are restricted to residents of Manitoba, Canada.
The information provided during a Chat Support session is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health advice and shouldn’t be relied on as diagnosis or treatment. If you are in suicidal crisis or emotional distress and Crisis Chat is not available or is “offline,” please call the Manitoba Suicide Line at 1-877-435-7170. If you or someone you know is currently in the act of harming him/herself or someone else, or if they need immediate medical attention, please dial 9-1-1.
Crisis Chat services may be limited or blocked for users who engage in inappropriate language, vulgarity, harassment, or other inappropriate uses of services.
Privacy - Klinic adheres to strict policies around privacy of your personal health information. This means that we do not share any information about you with outside agencies except for the following circumstances: child welfare concerns, imminent threats of harm to self or others, or when subpoenaed by the police or courts. Our counsellors are obliged to maintain a confidential record of all services provided.

Security - While we have taken all possible steps to ensure that your information does not have unauthorized access, use or disclosure, we cannot guarantee 100% security. When you chat with a counsellor on the Crisis Chat, we do our best to protect your Personal Health Information. However, it is important that you also take steps to protect your privacy such as using a private room where you are unlikely to be interrupted, and using a private email address.

Third Part Websites, Links and Referrals – The MFRNSS Crisis Chat counsellors will, from time to time, provide links/referrals to outside mental health or other services. These referrals do not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation of the information or services found. MFRNSS makes no guarantees as to the accuracy or quality of the information found on third party websites. Should you choose to rely on any information located on these third party websites, you do so at your own risk.
Changes to Terms and Conditions – MFRNSS Crisis Chat may make additions or alterations to these Terms and Conditions. These changes will be displayed here, and will be effective once posted. We ask that you check these Terms and Conditions regularly.
